A wealthy American was driven by the Great Depression to bury about $182,000 behind the bathroom wall of his home in Ohio.
Nobody is sure what happened to the burier, but the money was kept out of sight for many years before contractor Bob Kitts was recruited to repair the wall.
While his employment was terminated due to the treasure’s finding, a protracted legal dispute over the treasure’s ownership with the home’s owner also began. Kitts only received a few thousand dollars, but they were worth the effort.
