When you assume of where you would expect to find the fossils of a sea animal, the apparent assumption is hidden below all-time low of an ocean, lake, or other large body of water.
That is why railway employees excavating below a ranch in Vermont were so shocked when they located the fossils of whales in the ground.
The ranch itself was 200 miles far from the ocean, and the bones were set in blue-gray clay. The farm proprietors later sold the bones to a background gallery for $1,000 ($ 38,488 today).
It’s likely the whale was buried there thousands of years in the past, when the location of the earth looked much different, as well as many land locations were as soon as water.
