Many fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 have noticed that character John Marston cannot swim. Red Dead redemption has surprised everyone with how realistic it can get. The protagonist Arthur Morgan can do almost anything in the water. So why cant John Marston?
Red Dead Redemption 2
There’s so many people to meet and so many things to do in Red Dead Redemption 2. RDR2 is regarded as the greatest achievement of Rockstar studios till date. The open world is immersive and beautiful to look at. Each shot is an experience. The realism of the game is top notch and one of the best I’ve ever seen. The story is about Arthur Morgan when at the time in USA when bandits and outlaws were a dying breed. The sixty hour gameplay featuring Arthur is pretty exciting and unforgettable. There are recurring characters that appear from time to time. One of them is John Marston, the protagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption.
John Marston
Born in 1873, John Marston was the son of a Scottish immigrant and a prostitute. His mother died during and childbirth and his father died in a bar fight south of Chicago. Hence he was an orphan since the age of eight. John was subsequently sent to an orphanage, where he spent the next few years. He eventually ran away and tried to make his own luck living out in the streets. He is known to be a fairly serious person with very little patience. In Red Dead Redemption 2, a younger John Marston is portrayed. An interesting detail about John in RDR2 is that he cannot swim and there’s actually a good reason for that.
Why John Marston cannot swim
John Marston’s terrible swimming skills are actually a callback to aRed Dead Redemption gameplay limitation, which didn’t let players swim at all. Early open world games from rockstar did not let their players swim. The fact that John cannot swim in the new Red Dead Redemption is a cheeky detail. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first game and since John could not swim in the first game he cannot swim here too, because he just never learned to swim.
