Mega Man X5 also known as Rock Man X5 in japan is a video game developed by capcom. Its the fifth installment in the Mega Man X series and it came out in the year 2000. The game was released for Playstation and Microsoft Windows.
About the game
Mega Man X5 is set in the 22nd century in a world where humans coexist with humanoid androids called “Reploids”. The game takes place in 21xx an unspecified year in the 21st century. The antagonist of the game named sigma has been revived to create havoc once again. Sigma derives a plan to destroy earth and the galaxy of Eurasia. The maverick hunters have only 16 hours to stop this from happening.
The gameplay is pretty similar to the previous instalments. Mega Man X5 was originally meant to be the last game of the Mega Man X series. Also due to the nature of the story line there are multiple possible endings. Further in the article we will try to understand each one of them.
Mega Man X5 endings
There are three possible endings in this game and they are as follows:
Zero’s ending– Zero has only one possible ending in Mega Man X5. Him becoming a maverick and losing his playable status is what gives way to X’s bad ending. The battle between X and zero is noticeably sad. After defeating X, Zero challenges Sigma alone.
After taking significant damage, Zero succeeds in defeating sigma. At the end of the battle Zero is badly injured and is about to die. He has flashbacks of his first encounters with sigma and Iris and love interest from Mega Man X4. Zero’s ending closes out with his life slowly and simply fading away.
X’s good ending– X tries to arrest Zero, the two fight to the death, and X fights Sigma in Zero’s place. After the fight with Sigma, there’s some overlap with Zero’s ending. The whole ending is seen from X’s perspective. X is nearly destroyed and later is rebuild by Dr. Light. When X awakens, he returns to his job as a Maverick Hunter, now determined to honour Zero.
X’s bad ending– This ending is the easiest to get. All you have to do is to get everything wrong throughout the gameplay. X’s fight with Zero in his bad ending is far more emotional than their good ending battle, with friends forced to fight against their will. X kills zero and heads into the fight with sigma alone. X defeats sigma and is nearly destroyed. Dr. Light finds X the same way he finds him in the good ending. In this ending X is rebuild without memories of zero. X goes on to create his own world called Elysium.
