Origin and Meaning
The meme started with the release of The Mandalorian in 2019 where we first got the glimpses of a cute Baby Yoda. At the end of the first episode of season one is where Baby Yoda appears for the first time. The meme-able face of Baby Yoda then started being paired up against an angry Adam driver from Marriage story who plays Kylo Ren in Star wars. The meme is mostly portrayed as Kylo being furious and rational whilst Baby Yoda being silly and irrational. Baby Yoda saying something silly usually the punchline of the meme.

The real name of the Baby Yoda character is Grogu. Grogu is from the same species as Yoda hence the similarites. He first appeared in a Tv series called Mandalorian on Disney+Hotstar. Grogu has appeared in every episode of the first two seasons, with the exception of ‘Chapter 15: The Believer’. The cute munchkin was an instant star as soon as people first saw him. His high resolution stills ruled sites like reddit, Facebook, Imgur and Instagram for months. Even though Grogu looks like a baby, he is 50 years old.
Kylo Ren
Kylo ren is a charater from the Star Wars franchise. His real name is Ben solo and he is the son of Han solo and princess Leia. Unlike his parents, Kylo turns to the dark side and is usually the antagonist in the star wars series. Due to the hectic lives of his parents, Ben was left alone most of the time. Hence, he develops strong feelings of loneliness. He was one of Luke Skywalker’s best students but the force takes him on a wrong path. His character is played by Adam Driver. Adam driver also starred in the oscar nominated film Marriage story. His stills from both projects, Star Wars and Marriage story are used to make the Baby Yoda vs Kylo ren memes.
