Lita Ford – Life and Career in Band
Lita Rossana Ford was born on 19 September 1958. And she is an English-born guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Lita has been talented since birth. She picked up guitar at a tender age of 11! Ritchie Blackmore’s Deep Purple inspired her beyond limits. And she is still very well known as “Mother of Metal”. She paved the path for every female singers out there! Her vocal range is “mezzo-soprano”. And undeniably she has been through a lot. She married the W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes. But they broke it off. Then the former Nitro vocalist Jim Gillette married her. They have two sons named – James and Rocco. But things took an ugly turn. This too ended in a divorce and heavily affecting her children from their father.
In 1975, at age sixteen her life changed. Kim Fowley recruited her. The band is well known till now as the all-female rock band The Runaways. They released their first album in 1976. They released a total of 4 studio albums. The Runaways, Queens of Noise, Waitin’ for the Night, and “And Now… The Runaways”. But in 1977, internal conflicts arised regarding their genre. And accompanied with abuse complains from Kim. So unfortunately the band broke up in April 1979.
Solo career and outside singing
Her solo career was rocky as well. In 1982, she signed with Mercury Records. Her debut solo album was Out for Blood. Her 1989 single “Close My Eyes Forever” with Ozzy Osbourne gained her a huge name. And she also took a hiatus to take care of her sons. Her songs include the following –

Well she is also an actor and an voice actor. She played Rima in 2009 for the game Brütal Legend. And Her song “Betrayal” is also there in the game. She acted in the 1992 Highway to Hell film. And played the character “The Hitchhiker”. Her films include The Runaways and the documentary film Edgeplay: A Film About the Runaways. It showed a lot of her life in the band.
